Introducing Arete Music’s brand new “Singer Sandbox” events for the classical singing community! Hosted by Sarah and Ella, these Monday night sessions aim to connect singers, enabling ideas and experience to be shared across town, across studios, and across genres.

Up to two sessions each term: 2026 Dates are:

4 May, 15 June, 27 July, 14 September and 26 October

Wesley Music centre 5.30-7pm

What happens at the Singers’ Sandbox?

Attendees choose to watch or perform. Either way, the focus is on sharing ideas with others. Sessions will be facilitated using a structured response process, giving performers control over the feedback they receive and allowing for in-depth group discussion.

Who is it for?

Trained classical singers who want an opportunity to ‘air out’ repertoire or share with a group of peers and colleagues. It is for people who want to talk singing, practice their performances, gain ideas, and build connections.

Cost

Flat rate of $50 for attendees and performers alike, including refreshments.

How do I perform?

Four singers will be programmed to perform each week. Express your interest by ticking “I wish to perform” when you book, and email a clear PDF of your sheet music at least 3 weeks prior, to team@arete.music

The program will be emailed out to participants two weeks prior – ‘first-in best-dressed’, but finalised (in the interests of audience experience/variety) at the organisers’ discretion.

What should I perform?

Classical pieces! Including opera, oratorio, operetta, art songs, lieder, melodie and legit musical theatre numbers. Not sure? Ask us! Email team@arete.com
